Meet ALS Association National Laureate Noah benShea

Noah benShea is a poet, philosopher, scholar, executive advisor, lecturer, and international best-selling author who was, by the age of 23, an Assistant Dean of Students at UCLA and, by 30, a consulting fellow to a number of esteemed think tanks including The Center for the Humanities at USC and The Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions in Santa Barbara. A public speaker for 35 years, he has spoken at literally hundreds of universities, as well as given countless Keynote Addresses including to the Library of Congress, and the United States Department of Defense. His work has been incorporated in publications of Oxford University and the World Bible Society in Jerusalem.

Noah benShea is the author of 18 books translated into a dozen languages. And honoring his father’s heroic struggle, Mr. benShea has in 2005 accepted the position of National Laureate for The ALS Association.

Noah is was Visiting Professor of Philosophy at the highly esteemed University California San Francisco Medical School, where he is offered five seminars on “A Compass for  Healers.“ He also served as Philosopher in Residence at Santa Barbara’s Cottage Hospital for Residents in Internal Medicine for 2005-2006. In 2006, Noah delivered two keynote addresses on “The Character of Leadership” at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His next book,THE JOURNEY TO GREATNESS – And How to Get There! will be published by Corwin Press in December 2005. In April 2006 Mr. benShea’s book PRAYERS FOR YOUR NEWBORN will be published by Sourcebooks. And in the Fall of 2006 his book A COMPASS FOR HEALING – HOW TO FIND YOUR WAY FROM PAIN TO PEACE – will be published by HCI, publishers of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series.

In addition to his reflective life, Mr. benShea was a founding partner and later chairman of a national manufacturing company. He has is often called upon both for long range forecasting and as an inspirational speaker to communities and companies. He has served on Boards of Directors, and as a national lecturer to The Executive Committee, and the Young President’s Organization and continues as an executive advisor to North American business and community leaders.

Noah benShea is the father of a daughter, Jordan, and a son, Adam, both of whom are honor graduates of the University of California. Born in Toronto, Mr. benShea lives in Santa Barbara, California with his wife Julia Mora, an Interior Designer, and also resides part of each year in Italy.
